Four in 10 IT professionals predict that increasing use of Cloud Computing will create more jobs, according to IT jobs specialist CWJobs.co.uk.
The survey of 1,300 IT professionals revealed that less than half (44%) believe Cloud Computing will require specialist skills, however 75% reckon that they need to acquire ‘new skills and experience’ to tap into the Cloud Computing industry.
The research shows that 70% believe Cloud Computing skills and experience will make them more employable while only 28% believe mass adoption of Cloud Computing will mean fewer IT jobs. But there's a generation gap on view. Some 65% of those in their early twenties reckon the Cloud means more IT jobs, but only 28% of those in their forties agreed.
“It is encouraging to see that IT professionals recognise the career opportunities emerging from the rise of Cloud Computing. However, confusion evidently surrounds how candidates can best bolster their CVs for these opportunities,” said Richard Nott, website director of CWJobs.
He added: “While it is not yet clear which specific skills will be useful for Cloud Computing, the majority of IT professionals do believe there will be a need to adapt to capitalise on the changing IT landscape and that now is the time to do this.”
