France Telecom subsidiary Orange is launching a dozen new Cloud Computing services over the next two years, covering six main areas, including collaboration, real-time applications, infrastructure, security, vertical solutions and cloud-ready networking.

Orange said that its range of Cloud Computing services is intended to offer enterprises a "one-stop-shop" through a full selection of services appropriate for use throughout the business lifecycle. The new offerings will added to Orange's existing portfolio of Cloud Computing solutions, which include hosted virtualised infrastructure and desktop virtualisation.

"The network is the Cloud, and our experience and expertise in network and communications services place us in the best position to deliver high performance Cloud Computing services to support our customers' transformation," said Orange Business Services president and chief executive Barbara Dalibard. “Operating Cloud Computing services is in our DNA.”

“Telecom operators are ideally positioned to provide secure and resilient cloud services," said Camille Mendler, vice president of global service strategies at Yankee Group. "Enterprises need pervasive connectivity to virtualised assets, backed with robust performance guarantees and transparent monitoring tools. Not least, there is an urgent need for trusted intermediaries to federate private, public and hybrid Cloud environments. Telecom operators are stepping up to play this critical role.”
