Microsoft has racked up another Cloud Computing first as its Azure platform enjoyed its first public crash, resulting in a 22 hour outage.
Users of the pre-beta version of Azure were impacted, receiving a message: “ Windows Azure is currently experiencing an outage. We are investigating but do not yet have an ETA for a resolution. A large number of deployments are currently offline, and are slow to restart....Applications may be unreachable or in "stopped" or "initializing" states for long periods of time.”
In a post on the Microsoft Developer Network Forums, Azure team member Steve Marx said that a root cause analysis would be conducted to “understand exactly what went wrong and what we need to do to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Once we have that sorted out, I’ll put together a summary.”
Welcome to The Cloud! Think of it as an initiation...
