Newspaper distribution chain Menzies Distribution has chosen SuccessFactors to help it align its employee goals and objectives with the business strategy.
Menzies Distribution will deploy SuccessFactors in January 2009, to some of its middle and executive management team at first, with additional rollouts scheduled a few months after that. It is working with SuccessFactors' partner, Jigsaw Technologies, to help configure the system.
Menzies Distribution, a provider of distribution and marketing services to the newspaper and magazine supply chain in the UK, has a market share of about one third of the total UK market and a daily distribution of 4.5 million newspapers (6 million on Sundays) and 2.5 million magazines to customers including retailers, supermarkets and publishers.
"We selected SuccessFactors to better support our overall business objectives," said Kay Robertson, Learning and Development Manager for Menzies Distribution. "We wanted to ensure our middle and executive management is aligned with the company's overall strategy, as they are key to influencing and shaping our business.
“We believe SuccessFactors will give us much bett er visibility into performance and the alignment of our corporate objectives. It will also play an important role in ensuring we are better able to manage, develop and support our internal talent in the current downturn economy. We've had full support from our managing director on the SuccessFactors initiative, as we look to increase focus on people, specific targets, and key measurements to leverage the competencies of our management team across the business."
"We worked closely with Menzies Distribution to understand the strategic business requirements from the managing director down to middle management,” said Andy Leaver, vice president of sales for EMEA at SuccessFactors. “The SuccessFactors system will enable the management team to effectively communicate the strategic goals of the business, as well as the ability to gauge performance benchmarks. It is particularly important to access the strength and effectiveness of teams as we move through this time of economic uncertainty."
