Force.com heads to the Checkout

Salesforce.com has announced the Checkout programme which  enables 100% Force.com native applications built by partners to be purchased and fulfilled directly from Salesforce.com's online marketplace, AppExchange.

Force.com Checkout provides customers a single place for ordering, billing, invoicing and provisioning services for salesforce.com applications and participating partner applications. Customers are able to purchase partner applications directly through Force.com Checkout on the AppExchange and tap into integrated commerce and interacting with a single vendor for both their Salesforce.com and partner subscriptions.

Among the first companies to use Checkout is Callidus. "We are pleased to further expand our long-standing relationship with Salesforce.com," said Steve Apfelberg, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Callidus Software. "As a Force.com Checkout partner, we commend the program's benefits for customers in facilitating the process of buying applications. Companies will experience a seamless purchasing process and quick time to value with Callidus Plan Communicator."

"As a Force.com Checkout partner, Callidus Software provides customers with an easy to try, easy to buy mechanism for Callidus Plan Communicator. Force.com Checkout also provides Callidus with an additional sales channel to expand their distribution capacity."

Coda Group is also part of the initial roll out of Checkout with its Coda2go SaaS accounting offering. "We are happy to be one of the first applications available via the new Force.com Checkout service," commented Jeremy Roche, CEO of CODA. "Since the inception of CODA 2go, we have accomplished many firsts, including delivering the first native accounting application and what we believe is the most advanced SaaS accounting application on the market today. We have been part of the creation of the business model for Platform as a Service (PaaS) with salesforce.com as well as creating the legal and operational framework around delivering applications in a PaaS environment. What we have created and will continue to build on is a fully scalable, unified international accounting solution."

The first CODA 2go release delivers Opportunity to Cash functionality, enabling users to create an invoice directly from their completed "opportunities" in Salesforce CRM at the click of a button and post the transaction to their sales ledger. It is fully integrated with Salesforce CRM and will help companies manage business processes by providing simple access for authorized users from initial sales enquiry to closing the deal to collecting cash within one integrated product. The next release, including general ledger accounting and purchasing, is currently planned for Q1 2009.

Jobscience, an online recruitment firm, is also in the first tranche of Checkout partners. Jobscience Group Edition and other Jobscience solutions are now available for order through Force.com Checkout on the AppExchange, an online application marketplace provided by Salesforce.com. Customers can download a trial version free of charge directly into their existing Salesforce CRM account."As an ISV partner of salesforce.com, we are big supporters of the innovative delivery models for Software-as-a-Service applications that Salesforce.com provides," said Ted Elliott, CEO of Jobscience. "With Force.com Checkout, just about any Salesforce.com user can now locate, install, and purchase our native recruitment applications with just a few clicks."
