Richard Atterton

Richard Atterton joined Compassion UK, the Christian child development organisation, at its inception in 1999 and was the first member of staff. He is currently Chief Operating Officer and runs the UK office in Weybridge, Surrey.

Richard is responsible for Supporter and Donor Servicing, Accounting, HR and IT functions. During his time with Compassion the charity has grown from a startup to a donated income of over £25 million a year, with over 70,000 regular supporters.

Richard is also responsible for chairing the international Finance and Operations Committee for the Compassion group of worldwide charities and undertakes financial and quality audits of funded projects in the developing world.

Prior to joining Compassion Richard worked for Tearfund, the international relief and development agency, for 13 years as Marketing and Supporter Services Manager.
