09:20 Cloud in the Public Sector
The track record of UK public sector IT projects has rightly been the subject of enormous criticism over the years. Systems are over budget, behind schedule and not fit for purpose. Cloud Computing offers an alternative that other countries have picked up on. In the US, President Obama is investing billions in Cloud Computing for the Federal Government. In Japan there is to be a massive public sector Cloud. Now in the UK, the Digital Britain report has promised the emergence of the G-Cloud, a transformative way of delivering public services.

This opening session brings together representatives from all sides of the political landscape as well as technology experts to debate whether the future of public sector computing lies in The Cloud. Can the quicker/cheaper/easier benefits of private sector Cloud Computing programmes offer the same promise in the public sector and deliver working systems that support the needs of government while also saving the poor British taxpayer millions of pounds?
Martin Bellamy, Director, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer Cabinet Office
Adam Afriyie MP Shadow Minister for Science and Innovation
Andrew Abboud, CIO, City University London
Glynis Morris, Gloucestershire County Council
10:20 Cloud economics
Cloud EconomicsCloud Computing offers the opportunity to make radical savings in the cost of enterprise computing - or does it? With expert commentary from one of the leading industry analysts, this session examines the ROI and total cost of ownership implications of a move to Cloud Computing. How much will it cost you? How much will it save you?
Rebecca Wettemann, Vice President Research, Nucleus
10:50 Coffee Break and Networking
11:10 The CIO and The Cloud - Threat or Opportunity? IT decision makers from leading end user organisations share their experiences of Cloud Computing deployments, the benefits gained and the lessons learned as well as debating the new role of the IT function within the wider organisation.
Paul Cheesbrough, CIO, Telegraph Media Group
Alan Lee-Bourke, Head of ICT, The Wise Group
David Norris, Chief Operating Officer, Livebookings Network
Andrew Jordan, CIO, Complinet
12:00 The Business Cloud - the new generation of business critical applications From HR through CRM to ERP, organisations everywhere are dependent on packaged applications to automate and support critical business processes. The Software as a Service deployment model of Cloud Computing makes these applications more agile, more scalable, more cost effective and more responsive to the changing business needs of your organisation. This panel session hears from end users who have tapped into this new generation of business applications, the lessons they've learned and the benefits they've gained.
Moderator: Rebecca Wettemann, Vice President Research, Nucleus
Chris Stening, Managing Director, Easynet Connect & UK Online
Netsuite customer (Speaker TBC)
13:00 Lunch and Networking
14:00 Building a Secure Cloud Infrastructure - Security and reliability are critical concerns for any organisation and uncertainty around them is often cited as an inhibitor to the shift to the Cloud Computing model. This session offers advice on how to ensure that your organisation selects Cloud providers and technologies to ensure a robust, secure infrastructure with guaranteed service levels and business continuity.
Moderator: Martin Banks, Analyst and Business Cloud9 Contributor
15:00 Buyer Beware - the legal view
While Cloud Computing offers many benefits, it does also require attention to be paid to the legal and contractual implications. Traditional licence agreements are replaced by service agreements where key contract terms like payment, warranty, liability protection, and infringement differ from licensing models. Legal consideration must be given to a variety of issue, including assurances regarding data integrity and ability to access data 24/7 and in a disaster recovery scenario, long term commercial viability of service providers and backup plans. This session highlights some of the critical questions that need to be asked from a legal and contractual perspective.
15:30 Coffee break and networking
15:50 Consulting in The Cloud
This panel session looks at the role of the management consultancies and the systems integrators in the Cloud Computing world. Will there be a need for pureplay Cloud consultants? What role can the established consultancies play in integrating the established world of on premise computing with the on demand world of The Cloud? This session provides examples of how third party consultancy works in The Cloud.
Moderator: Dr. Katy Ring, Principal Analyst IT Services Field, Bathwick Group
16:30 The Great Cloud Debate
With almost every technology vendor and services provider staking a claim to the Cloud Computing mantle, it can be increasingly difficult for decision makers to work out which horse to back and whose Cloud credentials stand up to close scrutiny. In what promises to be a lively (and contentious) panel debate, some of the leading Cloud Computing providers will be challenged to substantiate their claims as we put them to the test and ask them the questions that end users need to have answered.
Marc Benioff, Chairman & CEO, Salesforce.com
Robert Whiteside, Head of Enterprise UK and Ireland, Google
Martin Geddes, Strategy Director, BT Design
Zach Nelson, CEO, Netsuite
